MISSING DOG

Tanya sent us this: “My dog that I rescued a few months ago has gone missing, she is an English setter and has cataracts in both eyes so she is blind. She has been missing since Sunday evening or early Monday morning and my feeling is she has been stolen but one can’t assume this.  She has vanished without a trace, no one has seen her around the Marchenilla area and we have spent hours in the campo looking for her. I have reported it to the Seprona and have put an alert on her microchip with the vet. We are deeply upset about this as we cannot believe she would leave the loving home she has here.” If you see her, or hear anything about her, please call Tanya at 627 649 320. BRUSH FIRE IN TARIFA

Some 350 hectares have so far been burnt by a brush fire that started last night in the Los Alcornocales Nature Park near Tarifa. Two hundred people were evacuated from homes and hotels in the area as a precautionary measure. Forty units of firefighters, plus planes and helicopters, are at this moment trying to put it out, a job that is made more difficult by heavy Levante (Easterly) winds.  Six people have been arrested in the matter, accused of negligence. This is the first of the Campo de Gibraltar’s fires this season (pray it’s the last). Please remember that you are forbidden to light any kind of fire anywhere outside (probably not including your BBQ on the terrace, depending on where that is), and you can be heavily fined for throwing anything out of your car window. GREAT SUCCESS FOR CAR BOOT SALE!

Today’s charity car boot sale, held at Finca Los Caballos (a.k.a. Saturday Pony Club) in Marchenilla was a magnificent success thanks to almost thirty stalls and lots of people turning up – and a great deal of hard work from Tanya, Mark, Dan, Phil, Angus and many more helpers. The La Estrella kids will now be able to have a specialised summer programme. THANKS TO ALL! from La Estrella.

We will give you a full report and put up all the photos on a slide show tomorrow, as Prospero really must have a shower…
