HORNS ARE REPAIRED AND BACK IN PLACE

The horns torn off the deer on the roundabout have been repaired and the stag is back in place. TioJimeno published this photo of its surgery. The only question that remains is: how long will it last? Of course, that question could be applied to almost anything that is done to improve our village. To use a transliterated Spanish saying, ‘there is nothing written about taste’, the fact is that there are many things that are done (and all too often vandalised) to make things better for all, whether we like what it looks like or not. Watch this space for an upcoming review of some of these improvements.

DEATH AND DYING IN JIMENA

JimenaPulse has had numerous and insistent requests for information on the forms and customs regarding our loved ones’ passing away in Jimena. We agree that it is a subject most of us don’t want to look at too closely, but we equally agree that it is something we need to be aware of. In response to this request, we are preparing an article that will cover the subject in its legal and traditional ramifications, as these can be significantly different to those of other countries. COMING UP THIS WEEK

SEMANA SANTA PROCESSIONS

semana-santa-2.jpgThe Holy Week processions in the district begin to get under way this weekend. We will be offering a brief guide to some of them, near and not-too-far, tomorrow. As far as we know, there is no procession in Jimena, but there has been a rumour that there may be one this year – we will investigate.

calabaza.jpgStep 4 (see here) left family and friends gathered around the table, chopping up onions, garlic, pumpkins and courgettes to be used as part of the ingredients for chorizo.
