Royal Estates (and John) move offices
We ran into John Askew (photo) of Royal Estates this afternoon. Being as he is a loyal supporter of JimenaPulse, we asked him how things were going. He took his hands to his head and replied that he was in the midst of moving his office from the main square to his home at Number 6 on Jimena’s prettiest street, San Sebastián. Would we come round later for an update? Of course we did! New office, new website coming up, new properties. Same wife and children. Watch this space for more updates.
People you should know: Chico
This is Chico, our postman. He knows the village and its people very well indeed. He also speaks excellent English, if a little Mancunian one wonders why, and is helpful to everyone. He can also be a charming scoundrel and a good friend. He joins our gallery of People You Should Know. Well, you should…
PEOPLE YOU SHOULD KNOW
Patricia Sánchez Torres is the smiling face of the newly-named water supplier: formerly Acgisa and Rucagisa, now ARCGISA (Agua y Residuos del Campo de Gibraltar S.A. -don’t ask why so many name changes, we don’t know)). She is happy to answer your queries and receive payments for your water bill. You know the offices: Read the rest of this entry »
TRIBUTE TO SARGEANT PEDRO MOYA
A ceremony of tribute was held this morning for Guardia Civil Sargeant Pedro Moya Tocón. The tribute was organized by local anti-drugs associations and was held in the presence of Francisco Mena, President of Alternativas (also in the photo by TioJimeno), as well as representatives of such organizations in the district and politicians.
(Prospero comment: I’m sorry I couldn’t be there as I would have liked to. My apologies to Sgt. Moya – and my heartfelt congratulations.)
CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
You know this building, it’s right by the fire station.
It is the Cámara de Comercio de Cádiz building, which houses the Cadiz Chamber of Commerce, which is headed locally by Marcos Fernández Pajares.
This conference room is set up as an IT training centre but can easily be adapted to other uses.
And there are offices to let from €175 per month, with a/c, light and water included.
Excellent value.
The Chamber of Commerce, unlike most of its American or British counterparts, is not just about promoting local business members. Marcos will be happy to see you through the paperwork involved in setting up a business, in obtaining grants (the availability of which is updated daily!), business networking and all such similar things. He will also let you an office, with starting prices at €170 per month (see picture caption above) including Wi-Fi internet connection. And there’s more: they also offer a series of courses, very often free; the next one is a free Masters-level in the creation and/or consolidation of businesses, in Spanish of course, of 500 hours duration, to be held towards the end of October and subject to confirmation. Watch this space.
Prospero is very taken with the nomenclature Vivero de Empresas, which means ‘Business Nursery’ in the plant nursery sense – growing businesses: love the concept!
