Silo to become Laja Alta study centre

08.07.09 Edificio El Silo (01) (Press release) Jimena Mayor Pascual Collado held a meeting in Madrid this morning with experts of the Directorate General for Fine Arts to prepare for a project for the creation of a study centre for the Laja Alta prehistoric painting caves. The centre would be located within the old silo on the corner of the A-405 road, which would also house other tourism and ethnographic services.>

The Mayor was accompanied by National Deputy Salvador de la Encina, which was attended also by an archaeologist and an assistant to the Director of Fine Arts.

The project, which has an estimate of €270,000, half of which would be covered by a grant from the Junta’s Sports Council, would be finished by late 2010 or early 2011. Collado’s meeting is aimed at obtaining the other half of the budget from the Ministry of Culture.
