SCOOP!

This is the cover for the DVD of the film we’ve been going on about lately (and which seems to have had us too occupied to post about anything else…).
The notes read:

JIMENA, ENTRE TIENTOS Y HABANERAS
… a film that tells of the past and present of the International Music Festival of Jimena de la Frontera, dedicated to building bridges of sound and culture between Spain and other countries. The film has a special emphasis on the seventh edition of the festival, which had Cuba as its guest country.
The film records the views of the people who have lived the language of music and folklore with the only thing that counts: their hearts.

We have to admit to a sense of pride that the photos used on the back were taken by Marcelo and Alberto Bullrich and first appeared here on JimenaPulse. The next step is to find out when the film will have its showing in Jimena. Let’s hope we are not the last to see it in Spain, as too often happens with films made here… Watch this space!

(Question: “What are tientos and habaneras?” If you know the answer, make a comment by clicking below, where it says ‘No Comments’. And yes, we know what they are… smug b******s)

WE ARE INSIGNIFICANT (7)

Prospero’s readers, if he has any left, will be pleased to hear that this is the last episode in this perplexing Monday morning series. If you have wondered why he bothered, please bear in mind that he is getting on a bit and therefore offers no excuses. If, on the other hand, it has in any way helped you get a perspective and pull you out of your running about like a headless chicken, then it has served its purpose. Prospero, for his part, is at this instant pursuing his head around the back patio…

Last week’s episode (click here to see it – or click on ‘Series’ below to see the whole thing) had us floating off into the known cosmos. And here we are at the edge of it, not knowing where we’re headed. If that sounds familiar, then maybe it’s time to stop for a few minutes – yes, that’s all it takes – and take stock of what we want out of life aside from winning the lottery.
And if you do win the lottery, now’s the time to tell your boss what you’ve always wanted to. Just make sure you share the winnings with those who need it more than you do. Like Prospero.
