LOCAL POLICE ARE UNHAPPY

The word is out on the street: the people who are charged with our security are unhappy with their lot. Apparently, they have been instructed by the Councillor for Local Police (among other hats he wears), Andrés Beffa, to go back to ‘old-fashioned policing’. This involves patrolling on foot and leaving the patrol car at the police station on Calle Sevilla. With reference to Jimena village, Beffa supposedly wants one police person patrolling the upper area, and another, at the bottom of the hill.  Read the rest of this entry »

MARCHENILLA ON THE MOVE

The residents of Marchenilla, just down the A-405 from Jimena and part of its municipality, are mobilizing against a building rubble recycling plant nearby, though the project has not even been published in the Provincial Official Bulletin (BOP) yet. Protests are about the plant being built at Haza de la Piedra and the fact that a considerable increase in heavy traffic is already affecting them. Read the rest of this entry »
