FIVE DAY FAIR

This year’s Feria de Agosto has been extended to five days, from Wednesday, August 13th, to Sunday the 17th. The illustration is of a painting by Antonio Vega, which is the basis for the fair’s poster, soon to be seen all over town. For the full programme Read the rest of this entry »

MONDAY IS A LOCAL HOLIDAY

Next Monday, May 26th, is what is sometimes called ‘Hangover Monday’, a convenient movable day off that comes after a local Feria and affects the entire municipality. This year it is San Martín del Tesorillo’s turn – except they’ve moved their Feria, which normally coincides with Corpus Christi (this week; photo of street decorations by TioJimeno), to June 11 to 15. The decision was taken after an unofficial ‘referendum’ in Tesorillo. The holiday means that there will be no school on Monday, banks will be closed and probably many shops, though not all. We are unable to find out about rubbish collection because the Town Hall phone number has been unanswered after 5 calls.

FERIA DE MAYO

MAY FAIR PROGRAMME

Despite announcements to the contrary, there is no bullfight, not even on horses. However, there is a ‘horse show’ though it doesn’t say what exactly that entails (Prospero guesses it’ll be horses and flamenco dancers coughing in the dust). To see the whole programme (roughly translated) Read the rest of this entry »

PHOTOS ONLINE

From today you can see some of the selected photos from this blog appearing at the bottom of the right sidebar. If you click on them, they’ll come up big. We will be uploading a lot more onto Flickr as we can.

You will also find a Map on Flickr that will locate where the photo was taken… Have fun!
