ANOTHER BEAUTIFUL DAY
When you wake up in the morning and something like this is just outside the window, it makes everything worthwhile, doesn’t it? It’s a time to be grateful to be alive, to be here, and just to be.
Have a another beautiful day today.
DAILY REFLECTION
GOT HIM!
That’s him, that’s Tio Jimeno! Tucked away in a corner at a political mítin (i.e. meeting or rally) on Friday, working for all of us after a very long day doing much of the same. This is the guy who has taken over the Spanish media in Jimena and to whom we owe a great deal. His blog, Tio Jimeno Digital, is read by just about every person in Jimena (and well beyond) with a computer; it is even consulted daily by the printed press of the area, by TV and radio stations and anyone with some connection to Jimena, even from as far away as Peru, Argentina, Belgium and who knows where else. And this very much includes your very own Prospero, who consults his blog several times a day (paying job permitting). I for one am very grateful for the magnificent, purely voluntary work he is doing. At long last, he has found a way for the entire community to be connected to what’s happening here. Quite modestly, Prospero tries to do the same for the ex-pat community, for those with only a little Spanish. (Incidentally, Tio Jimeno is a good way to start reading and learning the language of this, our adopted country). Of course, I couldn’t do this blog without him.
If Prospero knew how to add sound to this page, he would offer a deafening round of applause to Tio Jimeno (a.k.a. Ricardo Gómez, teacher and friend), but please feel free to do so at home.
Muchas gracias, Ricardo, por tu trabajo; de todo corazón.
ENTRANCE TO THE VILLAGE AT FULL SPEED
Work on the entrance to the village is reaching a crescendo. The planters along the middle are finished and being filled with earth, the roundabout at the bottom end is sort of round, and now the top end is cutting away at the entrance to those horrible old flats (photo). One wonders what happens when they presumably cut away at the pavement along there all the way to the swimming pool, where they will probably have to stop – a bottleneck, perhaps? Oh, and the road is still waiting for tarmac on the side it has been doing so for a good couple of years…SELF-CONGRATULATIONS
Here are some of the comments we have received about this blog. Make of them what you will…
Hi Prospero,
I have just found your blog and wanted to write a quick note to say thanks and well done. What a fantastic facility your blog is for those of us who are “paying guests” here in Jimena.
What you’re providing here is solid information which should make the more confusing aspects of life in Jimena clearer for us ex-pats, but equally as important, having that knowledge can only increase our chances of integration. I’ve “bookmarked” your blog and will be returning regularly. Thanks again,
Steve Yates
