About Jimena de la Frontera, the province of Cadiz and Spain as a whole, focused on this small village in the mountains

Archive for FERIAS

MUSIC FOR ALL

There was flamenco of the best, including a stellar performance by La Macanita,
our very own José de los Brezos accompanied by Manuel Cortés, also of Jimena,
and Juan Villar with Diego el Morao at the guitar. Plus a truly magnificent solo by guitarist Juan Martín which so much absorbed Prospero he never got a photo.
And there was a stupendous blonde lady who sang (who cares how she sang? Just look at her!)
for those who prefer the quieter sort of music and a good old-fashioned bit of dancing.
(Okay, Propsero was also absorbed by the singing… er, singer here)

CONTAINING THE NOVENA

One of the nicest things about La Novena is that it is ‘contained’: it is small as befits a small village without pretensions; it is loud but not too, too much; it is welcoming and personal yet makes room for all; it is, in a word, contained. And a lot more fun and easier on the ears and soul, in our opinion, than the Feria de Agosto.

FELICITACIONES, CABALLISTAS!

CONGRATULATIONS!
There are almost 100 pictures in this slide show, some of which you’ve seen, but it is only our humble way of congratulating the organizers of the most successful riding event in Jimena, ever. Particular thanks go to Pedro, Alicia and Miguel, though we’re sure there are others behind them whose names we may not even know.
JimenaPulse will be picking out some of the best photos, sorted by events, and offering explanations about what went on. In the meantime, enjoy these.

LA MOJÁ

La Mojá is Andaluz for La Mojada, or The Wetting. ‘Nuff said: look at the pictures and you’ll get the idea. Our commiserations if you weren’t there, and if you were we know you’ll have had a lot of fun and will probably get a cold. La Mojá has become an annual staple of Saturday morning during the Novena. Now you know, so be sure not to miss it next year!
