OLD OIL, WHAT NOW?
It has always been a problem: what to do with the oil from the fryer or the frying pan when we’re finished with it. Usually, we just pour it down the sink – if a little guiltily. A litre of oil contaminates up to one million litres of water, enough for one person for 14 years!
As Jimena doesn’t have what in Spanish is called a Punto Verde (Green Point) at which those of us with a conscience can get rid of this sort of stuff, it is suggested that we get an empty plastic bottle, wait for it to cool down and fill it with the old oil. Then chuck it, full, into the container for plastics (yellow) or at least put it out with your daily rubbish.
