HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JOHN!
We couldn’t possibly refuse to publish this e-mail from our good friend Carol (photos and comments on her party here) “Thanks for the photos of the birthday celebration! On my behalf, could you thank everyone for their comments. In relation to the last one from a drunken crowd from my native village, one of them a gentleman by the name of “Booty” – a regular visitor to these parts, celebrates his 77th birthday today. No doubt he will be exercising his right arm in celebration at this very moment – he is quite good at it as the attached pic taken recently in Venta Chinella demonstrates! CAROL’S BIRTHDAY PARTY
Our good friend Carol Haw held a party to celebrate a significant birthday (we daren’t say which!) on Saturday at La Estación in San Pablo, to which Prospero was kindly invited. It was a great party, with people from all over the area and beyond – Carol is well-known and well-loved – the food was excellent and the company even better. THANK YOU, CAROL, WE’RE LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEXT ONE ALREADY!
The reason this note wasn’t published before has nothing to do with hangovers, but rather a technical hitch: for some reason, most of the pictures were disastrously, unrecovereably erased (apologies, apologies!), so we spent a good part of Sunday trying to do something about them. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CHRIS!
Wandering back from reporting on our previous post, we came across Chris Bowman’s 65th birthday party at La Bodeguita (a.k.a. The Corner Bar). If the photo is slightly blurred and they’re all looking a bit red, please don’t blame our new camera – they were all very merry. And so they should be: MANY HAPPY RETURNS, CHRIS! Chris (that’s him, presiding at the other end) and Gareth (front, right) have lived in Jimena for over 20 years and it was great to see them surrounded by family and friends.
