Lucía Álvarez Howard to direct Municipal Flamenco School

Lucía+ 029-1(Press release) Lucía Álvarez ‘La Piñona’ is to direct this year’s course at the Municipal Flamenco School, which re-opens after a year’s absence. Councillor Juan José Rondón also annouced that registration for the school will be open from October 1 to 8 at>the Town Hall in Jimena, the municipal delegation at Los Ángeles (in the Reina Sofía Cultural Centre), at the San Pablo Town Hall, or by clicking here.

Classes will be held at the Casa de Cultura in Jimena (opposite the Town Hall) at a cost of €20 per month. There are three levels: Beginner, Middle and Advanced. Classes are an hour and a half and the amount of interest will determine which days and hours the classes will be set.

Lucía ‘La Piñona’ is a well known flamenco dancer with an international reputation. Born and bred in Jimena, she is the daughter of Katharine Howard, a long-time resident of the area. She was recently called The Greta Garbo of Flamenco. You can read more about Lucía here.
