Man fires shots at British Consulate in Málaga

BritishConsulateMalaga(Agencies) A Lebanese man fired at the British Consulate in Málaga last week. The shots were aimed at the Union flag and the British coat-of-arms at the front of the building. No one was injured.

The man was stopped trying to drive away from the scene by police who ran to the consulate on hearing the shots from a nearby bus station where they were on duty.

Police said later that the man arrested had been refused a visa to visit members of his family in Britain. He had been detained on previous occasions for allegedly making threats and falsifying documents.

A spokeswoman at the British embassy in Madrid said: “We are liaising with the police on this matter. The man arrested is known to the consulate and we have previously taken legal action against him.”
