(Press release) Work began this week on the building known as El Silo (once a grain storage facility) under the provincial AEPSA employment plan, according to Employment and Local Development Councillor Fernando Gómez. The outside area of the building is to be cleaned and tidied on the way to it becoming an ‘ethnographic centre’ and Jimena’s Tourist Information Centre, presently at La misericordia Church just below the castle. Among other ideas,>OOPS! SORRY, YOU CAN’T GO BEYOND THIS POINT UNLESS YOU HAVE MADE A DONATION TO JIMENAPULSE. WE APOLOGIZE FOR THE INCONVENIENCE (but we’ll forgive you just this once)
the Council is studying the possibility of using spare space as a crafts centre where local craftspeople can make and sell their wares.
This is one of two employment plans the provincial authorities have granted to Jimena with a total financial package of €350,000. One of them is termed an ‘income generator’ and has a grant of €140,000, while the other, under which comes the Silo, is called a ‘stable employment generator’, with €215,000.(If you enjoyed this article, or found it useful, please consider making a donation to JimenaPulse.
