‘Affordable housing’ in Gibraltar: more problems

Rosia Bay (Agencies) After the collapse of OEM International announced early last month, it now turns out that the company that was to take over the ‘affordable housing’ project in the Rosia district, Haymills (Gibraltar) Ltd. has itself been placed into Creditors’ Voluntary Liquidation>

following loss of support from its parent company in the UK. The Government of Gibraltar has stated that the project will be continued under the aegis of its wholly-owned Gibraltar General Construction Company Limited. A statement from No. 6 Convent Place said, “The employees of Haymills (Gibraltar) Limited (and related companies) will be offered an 8 week contract of employment by Gibraltar General Construction Company Limited, a wholly-owned Government company.”
