New traffic fines, regulations

SeguridadVial_ENG We thank TioJimeno for pointing us to the new regulations regarding speed limits, which come into effect as soon as it is approved in the Cortes (Parliament). The chart (click to enlarge), translated by The Translation People, gives the fines and points removed for speeding. But there is more.>

Among new regulations is the fact that points will only be removed on autopistas (motorways) for travelling at over 150kph, but fines start at 120kph.

Also, vehicles will be immobilized as follows:

  • Uninsured, in the street
  • Travelling uninsured or without helmet (motorbikes)
  • When driver refuses alcohol test
  • When vehicle presents obvious defects
