Music Festival: getting ready for the show

PICT0013 There’s that feeling again; it happens every year. That little tingling of excitement in the pit of the stomach that says there’s something happening. Usually we first notice preparations on the main square but we know the same is happening at the Llano de la Victoria and down at the Convento. The big sign went up yesterday (it’s from a previous festival, a reflection of this year’s budget) and the bits and pieces for the stages were being unloaded as we passed. And then there’s the blinking lights>

PICT0018 that need fixing or they’ll distract from the stage. The clock needs fixing, too, but it just doesn’t happen (did you know that it was broken because of some idiot kicking a football at it?). A bit further up the tower, on the other side, is a fig tree growing splendidly while its invasive roots destroy the ancient brick work. Nothing happening there, either.

But the show goes on…

Bars, restaurants and shops have been gearing up, too, as it can get pretty hectic for a couple of evenings and nights – make a note that you need to find a table in the crowds, so give yourself time.
