About Jimena de la Frontera, the province of Cadiz and Spain as a whole, focused on this small village in the mountains

Did you know…?

solar_tower_sevilla …that the world’s largest solar power tower went into use near Sevilla last week? Called the PS20 tower, it has a capacity of 20 megawatts, enough to supply 10,000 homes at present. Located at Sanlucar la Mayor, it is the second plant such being operated by energy company Abengoa in Spain. Made up of 1,255 mirrors, each 120 square metres in size, it reflects the sun’s rays into a receiver sitting atop the 160-metre tower, which drives a steam turbine that in turn creates electricity. At full capacity by 2013, the plant is expected to generate 300 megawatts of energy, and supply 153,000 homes.
