About Jimena de la Frontera, the province of Cadiz and Spain as a whole, focused on this small village in the mountains

There are people trying to sleep here!

Copy of Mayo17y18 arenal1 We are not about to get up at 4am to take a photo, so we’ve made do with what we’ve got. The bottom of the hill, where the Arenal buildings meet the football grounds, has become a cess-pit of noise, shouts, loud music, drug taking and who knows what else because THERE ARE NO STREET LIGHTS. And we’re not just talking about feria nights; this goes on every Friday, Saturday and holiday night ’til very late (or early if you prefer). Why are the lights not working, when they were transferred to the Town Hall several months ago? Why do the Guardia or Local Police not patrol the area (there are plenty of them near the deer fountain during the feria)? Don’t the residents of Arenal have enough problems – or aren’t there enough votes down there? Like all residents of the village, they have a right to their rest, or don’t they? (This ‘denuncia’ arises from several conversations -not only in English- with that area’s residents.)
