About Jimena de la Frontera, the province of Cadiz and Spain as a whole, focused on this small village in the mountains

What’s happening with this building?

silo2A communiqué from Izquierda Unida (IU) of last week raised the question. After announcing in April 2007, with a fanfare of trumpets, that the old silo at the entrance to Jimena village was to become the Centro de Desarrollo Turístico Empresarial (Centre for Tourism Business Development), a lot of restoration work was started and, as usual, almost finished. Over two years have gone by now, and the building is still unfinished and certainly unopened. In fact, the fence around it has almost blown over and the weeds threaten to take over altogether.>Is it about money? asks IU. So where did the original grants get sidetracked? Or is this going to be another one of those projects that get inaugurated just before election time?

While it is understood that ‘many doors have to be knocked on’ to obtain money for these things, surely there has been time to kick down a few over two years, says IU.
