Yes, we’re still chasing that little devil sitting on the top of the right sidebar, so please forgive any strange stuff that may be happening as you read – it’s not your computer, it’s us.

I think you should learn to love him. Give him a name. Then again it may be a her. Have you checked?

Love him? We PRAY for him… And no, he’s definitely a he. How do we know? Well, according to a rudimentary survey among our friends of the female gender, males lurk better than females. So, not wishing to go any further into the matter, it was decided by committee that Smiley is a male. What we’re not sure about is the species, or subspecies. Any ideas? Names?

Ande here is a response from Barry at WordPress themselves:

“Why is there a smiley on my blog?

“So we can tell you how many visits you have had and which posts are the most views, and how people got to your site and all the other stats stuff you have in the Dashboard, we need a way to track things. We do this by loading a small image to your page when someone looks at it and then we can get all the other information.

“And we chose a small smiley :)

“And if you haven’t noticed the smiley yet, look right at the very bottom of this page.”

You’ve got to love that Smiley, but he won’t be messing up the page for much longer because WordPress has also told us how to fix him…
