A press release from opposition party Partido Andalucista illustrates the fact that, in addition to road tax (see item here), the water rates are cheaper as well. The communiqué points out that, to start with, residents of the luxury urbanization do not pay rubbish collection. Arenal 2000 residents should request water supply individually – and soon
(Press Release) Further to our previous post on the subject, the Partido Andalucista has contacted some residents of Arenal 2000 with a view to further understanding their situation regarding the transfer of a debt owed to the water supply company, ARCGISA, by the developer of the urbanization, Arenal 2000, to the owners of individual apartments. European Parliament concerned about development in Spain
(Agencies) The European Parliament (EP) continues to be concerned about the proliferation of planning abuses throughout Spain and particularly on the coast. A report by Danish Green Party EP Member Margrete Auken, which was approved by the EP, states that some 18,000 homes “may be infringing EU law on matters such as environmental impact, public participation, water policy and public contracts.” It also says that the new General Ordination Plan (PGOU in its Spanish acronym) for Marbella -the only municipality specifically mentioned- “deprives buyers and the public in general of judicial protection and legal guarantees.”>
Hozgarganta River ‘unhealthy’
(Agencies) A recent report by the Junta de Andalucía’s Department of the Environment, under a programme called ‘Andarríos’, qualifies three rivers in the Campo de Gibraltar as ‘unhealthy’. One of them is the Hozgarganta, which comes past Jimena; the other two are the De la Vega near Tarifa and the Palmones, near Algeciras.
