La Línea mayor resigns ‘immediately’

JuanCarlosJuárez_LosBarrios(Agencies) Mayor Juan Carlos Suárez (photo: DiarioSur) of La Línea announced this morning that he is resigning ‘as of now’ because he has been barred from public office for six months’ by the Provincial Court as a result of the Palex financial scandal, whereby he was accused and found guilty of ignoring court orders regarding payments for a hemodialysis service that go back to 1994.

Lucía Álvarez Howard to direct Municipal Flamenco School

Castellar requests flood measures

Work begins on new sports facilities at Jimena stadium

Is Jimena’s phallic symbol a victim of the Red Palm Weevil?

Photo by JimenaPulse) In October last year we published an item about the Red Palm Weevil, which elicited no response from the Council or anyone else, except an alarmed reader who tried to report the matter without success. Now it turns out Castellar has had to contract a specialist to eradicate the picudo rojo from its palm trees.
