Far from wishing to create any sort of panic by publishing two articles back-to-back on related subjects, we found the following article in Europa Sur this morning. It is a summarized translation:
The Junta de Andalucía proceeded to demolish an illegally-built home in Fuentemolín, Tarifa. For some time, various Junta agencies with jurisdiction over planning matters have been carrying out a series of measures aimed at eradicating what for years has been common practice: illegal buildings.
Such a measure was carried out yesterday in Los Alcornocales Nature Park after the Criminal Court Nº1 in Algeciras issued the demolition order. The 120 m2 property, built by a German citizen, was demolished after its owner had removed the furniture. It took five Environment Agency agents, their provincial coordinator, the chief of the department of Information and Sanctions, members of the Autonomous and Local police forces and a representative of the Town Planning department of Algeciras Council to do so.
The files on this particular property go back as far as 2001, when Environment agents issued a denuncia (report, in this case) on the home, which had bee built without any kind of authorization. A cease and desist order was issued immediately but the owner continued to build, all of which resulted in what the photo (EuropaSur) clearly illustrates - almost 7 years later. The Provincial delegate for the Environment, Gemma Araujo, said yesterday that the law needs to be carried out against all illegal buildings and land occupations on or in public property, right-of-ways and protected areas.
