arabes_raid.jpgRiding and horse fans will be pleased to hear that the III Tierras de Al-Andalus Kaliber Endurance Race is scheduled to come through Jimena on Wednesday, April 2nd on their way to Ronda in one of several stages of the race.

Known in Spanish as the equestrian sport of raid, this particular race is considered unique in the riding world because of its specifications. Starting in Seville tomorrow, it will end in La Beata on April 5th. This year’s event has 50 riders on 62 horses registered to take part over almost 500 kilometres throughout Andalucía. Sponsored by the Kaliber brand of the Heineken empire, a prior presentation is planned for today in Dos Hermanas, Seville, at 1pm.

The stages are as follows: Prior Stage at the Javier Píñar Hipodrome in Dos Hermanas; 29 March, Seville – El Rocío; 30 March, El Rocío -Sanlúcar de Barrameda; 31 March, Puerto Real – Montenmedio; 1 April, Montenmedio – Algeciras; 2 April, Jimena de la Frontera – Ronda; 3 April, Ronda – Antequera; 4 April, Loja – Granada; 5 April, Alcalá la Real – La Beata.
