Calle San Sebastián is - or was - one of Jimena’s more picturesque streets. The top end, where it meets Jincaleta, is now devoid of plants and planters. The bench there is practically destroyed. Neighbours complain of a bunch of some 10 or 12 children gathering there every evening to play football up against the walls; they leave rubbish all over the place with bins a metre or so away, destroy carefully tended flowers and plants and make a great deal of noise, we are told. The large house on that corner has been restored recently and turned into flats, where many of these children apparently live.
A sign went up on the square recently, which forbids anyone to do almost anything there and makes the parents responsible for damages. Perhaps there should be another similar sign on San Sebastián. On the other hand, there are no other places for the kids to play or gather, is there? But where are these kids’ parents? How can they be allowed to be so very destructive?

Maybe a police presence in the villiage would teach these children to respect peoples property! Seems as though its becoming a problem everywhere now a days.
